“If the whole universe has no meaning,
we should never have found out
that it has no meaning:
just as, if there were no light
in the universe and therefore
no creatures with eyes,
we should never know it was dark.
Dark would be without meaning.”
we should never have found out
that it has no meaning:
just as, if there were no light
in the universe and therefore
no creatures with eyes,
we should never know it was dark.
Dark would be without meaning.”

That's two CS Lewis quotes that I've come across today. I may have to go hunting for more. I love quality thinking. Thanks.
oh, hi there! i love quality thinking too! thanks so much for coming by! always enjoy your visits!
have a wonderful turkey week!
Wise man, Mr. Lewis.
Love the Lewis quote. I read wisdom like that and wonder where it came from!
I have a quote by C.S. Lewis on my blog today, too. Did you see the bio/pic about him in his later years called "Shadowlands"? It starred Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger. It is a wonderful love story. Lewis was an interesting, intelligent man.
So very true. It reminds me of "I think, therefore I AM."
My favorite quote I rememeber from him is:
"Let's pray that the human race never escapes from Earth to spread its iniquity elsewhere".
But most of the universe, they tell us, is composed of dark matter - which we cannot see.
very wise and imaginative, ladywillow, so true! so good to have you over - thanks for coming by!
i know what you mean, trish - the depth of some minds is so intriguing to me - one wonders of the where and how of those!
oh, my goodness, bonnie! thank you so much for reminding me of shadowlands! i had let it slip from my memory of the moment! [like a lot of things:) ] beautiful film! and you're right, a very very intriguing man! i'll have to run over to your place now and see what you have of him! thanks so much for coming by! have a wonderful remainder of the day!
yes, nancy - me too now that you mention it - very much so!
fantastic quote marlene - i'd forgotten that one but i do love it! and it reflects exactly how i feel! :)
it's so good to see you here dave - thank you for coming by - i'm afraid i've been very behind on visiting some of my friends! so i'm especially grateful for your visit - isn't it fascinating to think of that, that the universe is mostly of things we are unable to see? how can that be? mind-boggling to consider!
