she lay her down on the jungle floor
her self was hers to be no more
she reached inside to oceans shores
and opened wide the mystic doors
her mighty mate he did roar
then deep inside her belly
first came the shape
the shape of things to come
the shape of all or none
the shamen did not shun
her belly now the rising sun
then deep inside her belly
next came the scream
of all your ancient dreams
nothing now as it seems
pray your gods your soul redeem
the universe her birthing stream
then deep inside her belly
came now the spirit from within
bursting through her bleeding skin
and issued forth in ravaged sin
the cosmos turn to spiral and spin
with no beginning and no end
deep inside her belly

these words came not from me at all but from the image itself - from the characters there - from their story - i was only their instrument - these are their words -

I love the "deep inside her belly". Isn't that where our truths come from? There are so many different meanings here, Jenean... so much to understand. And sometimes it's best to let the images just speak to us... because then they whisper to us of their spirits, what comes from their bellies, what wants to be said. And we end up here. I loved the image, and loved the words more.
Nevine
nevine - thanks for coming by and as always leaving such a meaningful message - i loved this print when i first saw it and it literally "spoke" to me - and you're so right, our truths do come from the deep inside, letting us know what it is they speak! thanks again!
Fantastic Jenean! You definitely tapped into that image and brought forth such raw and powerful words. I most definitely agree with Nevine's comment. Wonderfully channeled.
Powerful. I always leave this blog feeling joyful - and humbled by your creative spirit, Jenean!
I like how you let the picture speak to you..There was much in the telling of this picture..I really enjoyed it!
hi cole! well, in this case, it really was the image speaking - thanks so much for coming by - and for such meaningful comments always!
in this case particularly, trish, couldn't help thinking of you all - many thanks for your caring encouragement!
actually, marlene, it's that way a lot a lot of the time - that i just let the image "speak" - let it tell its story - i literally go back and forth between writing and looking at the image - anyway, thanks so much for your comments which mean SO much!

the words as well as the image left me with a deep thought. Everything indeed comes from deep inside the belly.
Joy and love,
Susan
hi susan - thanks for coming over - i thought the image alone was so thought-provoking and it seemed to have a mind of its own - so - there it is! :)
