mountains of molecules each stupidly minding its own business
trillions apart
yet forming white surf in unison
ages on ages
before any eyes could see
year after year
thunderously pounding the shore as now
for whom - for what?
on a dead planet with no life to entertainnever at rest
tortured by energy
wasted prodigiously by the sun
poured into space
a mite makes the sea roar
deep in the sea
all molecules repeat the patterns of
one another till complex new ones are formed
and a new dance starts
growing in size and complexity
living things - masses of atoms - DNA - protein
dancing a pattern ever more intricate
out of the cradle onto the dry land
here it is standing
atoms with consciousness
matter with curiositystands at the sea
wonders at wonderingi
a universe of atoms
an
atom
a universe of atoms
an
atom
in
the
universe
the
universe

I really like this! I like all of your posts on this site, but this one amplifies a song I like, "The Riddle" by Five For Fighting.
"there's a reason for the world, you and I"
Really good, fantastic words and thoughts, and the photograph is perfect. I will copy for you another poem:
You begin this way,
This is your hand,
this is your eye,
That is a fish, blue and flat
on the paper, almost
the shape of an eye.
This is your mouth, this is an O
or a moon, which ever
You like. This is yellow
outside the window
is the rain, green
because it is summer, and beyond that
the trees and then the world,
which is round and has only
the color of these nine crayons.
Margaret Atwood
Terrific.
ladies above - please forgive the delay in responding and thanking you for such wonderful comment which truly really do "make my days" - but i've been fighting a relentless bug of some sort that seems to have invaded by head [sinuses, more specifically] and who has been giving it more than a diligent fight - however, this bug is just not enough for this relentless wild woman so, notwithstanding the time frame in doing so, i am gradually overtaking HIM [and i KNOW it's a MALE bug! i can just TELL!] -
all of which means that i've been a bit distracted this week with an hour up and then an hour down and another hour up later...so i've been a little dis-connected here -
again, though thank you for such individualized thoughtful comments -
have a wonderful day, each of you!
and please come again soon!
celeste maia - thank you so much for leaving the beautiful verse, as well - words are such sweet things, are they not?
and terripatrick - thank you for the very nice mention over at your place - and i have to remember to look up the song you mention - can't quite place it - thanks again! and come back soon!
